Curiously, while Dodge has extensively used vintage Chargers and Challengers to boost the image of its more recent LX-based cars of the same names, we've not seen the company trot out any vintage Darts to help sell the new front-drive compact of the same name. Then again, it might actually hurt sales: If they were side by side, who would prefer that new econobox over something like this 1968 Dodge Dart GTS for sale on Hemmings.com? From the seller's description:

This numbers matching 383 four-speed is one of only 991 produced. It was built on Wednesday, December 20, 1967, and was delivered to Town and Country Motors in Washington, Iowa. The green TT1 exterior was ordered by the original owner, Dene Rath, who had just returned from the Vietnam War. It reminded him of military green!

The car andbBuild sheet were decoded by Galen Govier and is number 35 of 75 listed in the Chrysler Registry.

The GTS was restored as factory stock and is a correct restoration complete with appropriate assembly line markings - transmission pallet number and suspension, rear end and trunk inspections. A few liberties were taken in the restoration, but the car is period correct. The Dodge owner's manual, warranty book, keys and dealer key case are the originals.

Some details. This is a thorough restoration respecting this car's originality: An original survivor car until restored at 73,000 miles; original issue fender tag and broadcast sheet; all original sheetmetal; all original glass (except one vent window); engine: original factory 383 high-performance, completely rebuilt, balanced and blueprinted; trans: original factory A833 four-speed; axle: original factory 8 3/4, 3.91 Sure Grip; brakes: manual, Kelsey-Hayes disc up front, drums in rear; The car comes with 5 Redline Super Sport wide oval tires mounted on original steel wheels with dog dish hubcaps. 2001 Ford SVT F150 Lightning, front quarter

Forget Ford’s groundbreaking electric truck for a moment to consider this 2001 Ford SVT F-150 Lightning now offered on Hemmings Auctions. Instead of the dual permanent-magnet motors found in the current electric Lightning, the 1999-2004 SVT Lightning featured a supercharged version of Ford’s 5.4-liter “modular” OHC V8. Rated at 380 horsepower in the 2001-’04 models, it was good enough to make a stock lightning a formidable opponent on the street as well as at the strip.

A follow-up to the original 1993-’95 F-150 Lightning, which was a high-performance version of a standard F-150, the second-generation SVT super truck presented as a more thoroughly developed model with a lot more exclusive components that further differentiated it from the rest of the F-Series lineup. Beyond the engine, the entire suspension and braking system, not to mention aerodynamic body add-ons, were part of the Lightning package from 1999 through 2004. Exclusive interior components were also part of the package.
