Retired one-ton 1973 Chevrolet C30 pickup for sale on Hemmings.com. From the seller's description:
Original owner. 350 Target Master engine. Corporate 14 bolt, full floater rear. Beautiful shape. No rust. Runs and drives great. Hydraulic lift gate and metal bed rack. Original gate and bumper come with the truck. Hydraulic gate is bolted on so it can come off if so desired.The original owner had a vending machine business and his venerable 56 Ford was getting a little old in the tooth, so he purchased this Chevy pick up, new, to do a lot of the leg work. The original color was a Medium or Dark Gold. The the truck was repainted back in the 90's. The odometer shows 67K miles. Overall condition of truck shows that could be true, however, the truck was repainted and the seat appears as though it was reupholstered and it has a replacement engine. It was only driven locally, so mileage on odo could be accurate. It was a work truck every day of its life.
This truck could be a great addition to a commercial fleet and add the bit of classic truck style to the fleet, or, you can swap out the original tailgate and bumper and use as a fun cruise truck. Add some nice tires and rims, headers, pull a few leaves from the 1 ton springs and have at it. Or, just keep her completely stock, with the white rims and poverty caps.

Smack dab in the heartland of America, Enid, Oklahoma is an exceptionally friendly small town with a triad of great car shows that occur in three consecutive weekends. The fun starts with the Boy Scouts Show, which is always the last Saturday in March, then the Corvette Expo on the first weekend of April. For 2024, there is a newcomer to Enid’s car show scene: the Shepherds Show & Shine, which lands on the second Saturday in April.

Harold Clay, owner of Clay’s Collision Center and Harold’s Hot Rod Shop in Enid, called me at home in California and asked if I could offer our mutual friend Tom’s daughter some tips on how to put on a charity car show for her church (St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School) for its first attempt. I’m in Enid several times a year, so I knew the Boy Scouts car show is traditionally held on the last Saturday in March followed by the Corvette Expo always on the first Saturday in April. I Googled to see if April 13th was okay to hold Shepherds 1st Annual Custom & Classic Car Show & Shine and it looked like the coast was clear.

Famous last words. On January 28, 2024, I posted Shepherds Show & Shine flyer on Clay’s Collision Center’s Facebook page to help promote the new show. Immediately the proverbial poop hit the fan. Folks had misread the flyer and erroneously thought Clay’s Collision Center was the promoter of Shepherds show, so Clay’s phone started ringing off the hook with people asking for show information. Who knew Easter would fall on March 30, 2024? I couldn’t find it announced anywhere online that the Boy Scouts Show had moved their date from late March to April 13, 2024, one week after the 32nd Annual Corvette Expo came to Enid.

The wheels were motion and it appeared that neither party would back out, so consequently both car shows were set to take place on the same day. The early morning of April 13 started out a little stressful and then as the morning progressed plenty of cars, pickups and motorcycles started rolling into Shepherds 1st Annual Custom & Classic Car Show & Shine. A great success, the Shepherds show was an absolute nostalgic time warp. St. Paul’s church was built in 1926 and the beautiful old houses in the neighborhood circa 1927 set the mood. It was a good scene, the adjacent fenced schoolyard to the car show grounds was packed with children playing and dogs on leashes were everywhere… classic rock ’n roll music filled the air.

At 1:30pm Harold and I jumped into his chop-top ’60 Chrysler New Yorker and headed over to the Boy Scouts show that was hosted by the Enid Antique Auto Club at the Chisholm Trail Expo Center. Just like the Shepherds Show & Shine, admission for spectators at the Boy Scouts Show was free to all. Interestingly, the cars shown indoors at the Boy Scouts Show were mostly of a different style than the cars that rolled into Shepherds Show & Shine held outdoors, so the number of show cars was high at both locations. And Harold and I noticed a lot of the spectators we spotted at Shepherds were also present at the Boy Scouts Show, so apparently all that is well, ends well.

Rain may have dampened Sunday's festivities at the Hudson River Valley Antique Auto Association's 2024 Rhinebeck Car Show, but attendance and spirits were high last Saturday when we visited this eagerly anticipated season-opening event in the heart of New York's Hudson Valley. Held at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, this event includes a car corral that was stocked with all manner of interesting cars, trucks, and other vehicles -old and new, some turnkey, others restoration projects- being sold.
We were drawn to a pair of Bright White first-generation, rear-wheel-drive Dakota pickups, offered by different sellers, that represented the sportiest and most collectible variants Dodge sold in that mid-size truck's 1987-1996 model years.

<p>The first was one of fewer than 3,800 <a href="https://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/tough-and-topless-1989-dodge-dakota-sport-convertible" target="_blank">Dakota Sport Convertibles that were finished by ASC</a> in Livonia, Michigan, between 1989 and 1991. This first-year drop-top was powered by a fuel-injected 3.9-liter, 125-hp V-6 mated to the optional column-shifted overdrive automatic. It showed 152,500 miles on the odometer and appeared largely stock, save for an aftermarket sound system, bed-covering soft tonneau cover, and 18-inch Boyd Coddington alloy wheels (replacing 15-inch originals) mounting Z-rated 245/45 tires. The signage noted it had upgraded ignition and exhaust systems, and we spotted drilled and slotted front rotors; the seller was asking $14,500.</p>

<p>Chrysler President Lee Iacocca contracted with his old pal Carroll Shelby to have <a href="https://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/carrolls-shop-truck-1989-dodge-shelby-dakota" target="_blank">Shelby Automobiles, Inc. build a limited run of 1,500 high-performance Dakotas</a> powered by the largest engine in the corporation's stable, the 318-cu.in. V-8. Exclusively mated to a four-speed automatic, this engine sent 175 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential and 3.90 gearing. A sport suspension used gas-charged shocks and a front anti-sway bar, while disc/drum brakes with rear-wheel ABS hid behind unique hollow-spoke 15 x 6-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cab, a Shelby three-spoke steering wheel was complemented by Shelby-specific upholstery and a numbered dash plaque; this 154,084-mile truck also bore a sunroof and Carroll Shelby's autograph. There was no mistaking the Shelby outside, considering its bold decals, wheel-arch flares, air dam with fog lamps, and sporty bed-top lightbar. This Shelby Dakota's seller was asking $19,000.</p>
