Restored 1968 Austin-Healey Sprite for sale on Hemmings.com. From the seller's description:
wonderfully restored car with Only 27,000 Original Miles, making it a one-of-a-kind find and likely among the finest square body Sprites in existence. Now looking for a new home for this enthusiast car and considering all reasonable offers. Here's the provenance:My father acquired the car from a co-worker in 1973 while living in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and maintained it as needed throughout his 45 years of ownership. In 1993, having been relocated to Western New York, the car underwent a complete, strip-down restoration that included new paint in the car's original Racing Red, plus new black upholstery and brand new soft black top. The car was subsequently transported in family moves to Houston, TX and then to Atlanta, GA. In both locations, the car was parked in a covered garage and was minimally driven, which eventually led to the need for further mechanical work. Some of that work was completed in Atlanta, but the car was never driven enough to keep it in the proper mechanical condition.
In 2016, I acquired the car from my father and transported it to Nashville, TN, where I promptly put it in a British auto shop for a total mechanical overhaul that would restore it to original factory standards. The work was just completed in February, and the results are stunning. I have driven the car weekly since, accruing fewer than 200 miles, and it handles superbly. Here is a summary of the work completed:
Tune: Valve gasket, gas filter, air filter, oil filter, cap distributor, rotor, plugs, points, condenser, high tension wire, oil.
Carbs: Carb kit, intake gasket, carb gaskets x6, gas, fuel line, clamps, return spring, air filter gaskets.
Coolant System: Expansion tank hose, water pump, upper hose, lower left hose, lower right hose, water pump hose, heater value hose, heater hose, water value gasket, water value valve, clamps, anti-freeze, thermostat, thermo gasket
Throttle & Choke: Throttle cable, choke cable.
Brakes: Master cylinder, flex line front x 2, flex line rear x 2, rear wheel cylinder kits, brake fluid, rear shoes.
Axle: Axle rear seals, axle rear o-rings
Steering Rack: Left inner tie rod
Shocks: Shocks front RH, shocks front LH, front shock grommets, bolts shock, nuts castle, shocks rear RH, shocks rear LH, rear links
Clutch: Clutch slave kit, master cylinder kit, brake fluid.
Misc: Battery, side mirror
The only minor issues remaining on this car that might want to be addressed by the new owner are minimal rust appearing on an approximately 8" section of a seam on the quarter panel, and the repair or replacement of the soft top, as a couple of the metal grommets have torn, which is not unusual.

We've made our way back to Vermont from south-central Pennsylvania, where thousands of truly passionate car enthusiasts converged on the 2024 Carlisle Import & Performance Nationals on May 10th and 11th to celebrate the world's most fascinating and fun factory-stock and performance-modified vehicles. We're working on a larger story about this special event, but in the meantime wanted to share some of the entertaining license plates we spotted on the show field. Some explain the cars they're bolted to, while some tie into the automakers' histories, and others make personal statements. All of them can inspire a smile. If you run a vanity plate on your vehicle, tell us about it in the comments, and if one of the cars/plates show here belongs to you, kudos- and let us know its backstory!
