While this 1988 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde listed for sale on Hemmings.com might be personalized with some Euro-market exterior components, some mechanical upgrades, and some custom-stitched interior pieces, it would take an Alfa aficionado with a sharp eye to zero in on those personal touches and declare the car non-stock. Meanwhile, it's been treated to refurbished or replaced parts here and there and repairs to just about everything but the cruise control. The end result is a car that not only doesn't suffer from the array of annoyances of a 30-year-old vehicle but also might be more pleasant to drive than when it rolled off the showroom floor. From the seller's description:

This 1988 Milano Verde was purchased by the current owner in April of 2020. The car lived in Encino, California, since 2014, and it represented a good opportunity to buy a top of the line Milano in his favorite color and in really nice original condition. In fact, it appears that the paint on the car is most likely original, with the exception of the hood and trunk bonnet that have been re-cleared at one point. At the time of the purchase, the car showed 83,460 miles, however Carfax reported an odometer roll back between 1993 (75,500 miles) and 1995 (50,327 miles). Additionally, a service record dated 9/21/94, showed the car mileage of 46,243. Today, the car shows 91,585 miles on the odometer and it has been cared to the highest standards. The current owner decided to tastefully beautify and improve the car in both look and performance. The Recaro seats were reupholstered both in the front and rear. The headliner was replaced. A new Nardi steering wheel with yellow stitching was installed and the center console arm-rest lid was upholstered in black Alcantara with yellow stitching. Alfa Romeo floor mats were purchased, trunk rubber seal was replaced, and a Pioneer Bluetooth head-unit was installed. Furthermore, new square switches with orange markings replaced the old ones, and new power windows, motors and regulators were also installed together with a new windshield. In order to improve the handling, five new 15 Centerline wheels were purchased wrapped in G-Force Rival BF Goodrich tires; Koni yellow shocks were installed in the four corners together with the red lower rear springs and a larger front anti roll bar. Cosmetically, the upgrade also included new Euro front grill, corner lights, and left/right OEM rear view mirrors. The gray body-line strip was refinished. The ARC computer was rebuilt. Please note that the cruise control is not operational. The sunroof tilts but does not roll back, and an A/C toggle switch was installed to replace the factory Rotary switch in order to turn on the A/C Compressor. The A/C works well! Mechanically the Performateke shift linkage were installed, and additional work included the installation of 164S (3.0 liter motor) cam shafts, rebuild the trans axel, replace the clutch, rear brakes, belts, tensioner pulley and drive shaft donuts (all 3). All service and work records since 1994 come with the car. To celebrate all the work done to his Milano, the current owner drove the car to the Monterey Peninsola this past August to attend the Carmel-By-The-Sea Concourse On The Avenue and Concorso Italiano.

Video: Listen to 12 Minutes of Big Vintage Engines Firing Up
    YouTube / Techno Fusion HD

Some burble, others crackle and pop, and others flat out roar. From the hum of a four-cylinder engine to the soulful wail of a powerful V12, people have been enthralled with engine noises since 1807, when one of the first working internal combustion engines called the Pyréolophore was built. Car enthusiasts today often favor the sound of a beefy V8 engine, particularly out of muscle cars, but this video takes us back even further, before there was direct injection, computer-controlled timing advance, and pre-detonation sensors.

The sounds of big-bore antique and vintage engines hit differently, each offering its own unique symphony and vibrations strong enough to move the soul.

WPRI-TV, a news station in Providence, Rhode Island, affiliated with CBS and MyNetworkTV, recently reported on the Kei truck controversy that’s hitting the state. Residents who previously registered a Kei vehicle in the state of Rhode Island are being asked to relinquish their truck registration to the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

This news goes hand-in-hand with a previous article posted by Hemmings in late-2023 regarding Kei car and truck registrations being banned in Georgia due to safety concerns.
