Offered for sale here is this stunning 1950 Plymouth Suburban Deluxe Woodie Wagon. This was the very last year for the Plymouth's wood-paneled station wagons, and only 2,057 units were built. These last wagons were the only Plymouth Woodies to come with the enclosed sparetire on the tailgate, and are incredibly sought after by collectors.
This example here has been in my collection for 5 years now, and has always been stored in a climate-controlled environment to preserve the factory wood paneling. That's right! This car, as far as I can tell, retains all of the factory wood, no rot or weathering evident! The car itself was refurbished by a Plymouth collector on the East Coast 15-25 years ago, and it benefits from fresh paint, new interior, and wood finish. The car has a solid body, runs and drives, and looks like a time-machine on the road!
Paint is a single stage dark Burgundy-Maroon that looks awesome in contrast with the wood sides. It's not a concours quality finish, but it looks amazing and could potentially look even better with paint correction and further polishing. Small scratches and chips here and there, this is a driver after all, but a really beautiful car that would be at home at any car show!
Stock drivetrain starts right up, no smoke, shifts nicely, and drives around town with no worries. I've probably only put on 150 miles in the past 5 years. I just don't get to drive this one enough, so I sadly have to let it go.
Interior was all redone before I got it, and it's all period-correct Maroon Vinyl, with new Beige Carpeting to compliment. The seats are very comfortable and all the doors shut like bank vaults, no sagging or warping of the wood.
This Woodie has the unique 3 row seating, so passenger capacity is a comfortable 6-7 people! Great for road trips or cruising at the show!

1950 Plymouth Special Deluxe Wagon
Only 2,072 Special Deluxe wagons were produced for 1950, making the car offered here an uncommon opportunity.
With a manufacturer’s price of $2,372, the Special Deluxe Station Wagon was the
highest priced Plymouth for 1950. Seating eight passengers in comfort and came
from the factory with bright windshield and rear window trim. Special Deluxe
fender script badges, and a wood-grain finish on the interior metal panels.
All three seats were upholstered in leather-like material and the rear two seats
were removable. Offering an adequate 97 bhp from the 217.8-ci six-cylinder
backed by a three-speed manual transmission and a 118.5-in. wheelbase,
this Plymouth wagon is a versatile and comfortable vehicle which also provides
a large dose of practicality.
This particular 1950 Plymouth Special Deluxe Wagon was restored in 2006. During
the restoration This Plymouth was treated to a very nice cream paint finish.
The real wood seams to be all original and in great condition. The chrome grill is
super nice, The bumpers are showing there age..
The upholstery is just beautiful,,, The interior is just awesome,, The leather
like seats are just excellent. All seats have seat belts. The dash and carpet are
very nice as well.
