Manchester United have announced a new £235m shirt sponsorship deal with global technology company TeamViewer, replacing car manufacturers Chevrolet.

TeamViewer’s logo will appear on the front of United’s shirts from the start of the 2021/22 season as part of a five-year contract understood to be worth approximately €55m (£47m) per year.

United believe the deal is the largest shirt-only partnership in the Premier League and the most lucrative sponsorship agreement to be struck by any sports team in the world during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The deal is described as similar in value to the one struck by Barcelona and Japanese electronic brand Rakuten. Though TeamViewer’s logo is blue, it is planned to be white on United’s home shirt.

United are also understood to be in discussion for a new training kit sponsor, as an eight-year deal with Aon nears its end.

TeamViewer becomes the sixth main shirt sponsor in United’s history, following deals with Sharp, Vodafone, AIG, Aon and Chevrolet.

The seven-year Chevrolet deal was worth £64m-per-year - the biggest-ever struck by a football club - and was set to expire in December 2021, following a six-month extension due to the pandemic.

United will look to make up the deficit by securing a new automobile-specific sponsor following the end of the Chevrolet deal.

Richard Arnold, United’s managing director, said: “We are tremendously proud to be establishing this partnership with one of the most exciting and dynamic global software companies.

“The ability to connect and collaborate has never been more important to the world and our community of 1.1 billion fans and followers.

“We are looking forward to working with TeamViewer to bring to life our vision for a partnership built on smarter ways of connecting people and businesses.”
