Lightweight, mid engine, RWD, and turbocharged is a guaranteed recipe for success. Toyota knew full well what they were doing with the evolution of the AW11 into the more capable SW20 platform. It's distinct lines are instantly recognizable and still current today. Our Super Red (3E5) 1992 has been left largely untouched from the factory making it an ideal blank canvas for it's next owner. Since these were sold here in the US, both OEM and aftermarket parts are readily available making them far more practical. This one does have one key feature that wasn't offered here in the US and that's the fixed roof coupe option. Most all USDM MR2's are T-tops making these both better handling and less prone to issues like leaks. With only 41K verified miles this one is a real gem. The paint and body have been well preserved over the years, free of any notable blemishes. Of course with any vehicle of this age there are going to be some minor door dings and stone chips, but nothing you wouldn't accrue with any daily driver. It's a shame that pop up headlights have gone to the wayside, they make such an iconic look. These are functioning properly as are the factory fogs for days that the weather simply isn't up to par.

Much like the body, the interior has been kept largely all original. There are a few minor change ups to note. Most notably a newer push button starter was fitted to the right of the steering wheel. While the interior by no means feels dated, this and it's newer touchscreen double din do bring the car into the 21st century. For a more proper sportscar feel the clunky factory wheel was replaced with a flat bottomed Momo Commando. As for longevity sake a HKS turbo timer was mounted below the push start. Otherwise the stock interior has been left alone and well maintained. The driver's side bolster does have some traditional wear (which can be seen in the photos) from getting in and out, but nothing particularly bad. Both seats are free of any staining or fading which can be an issue with the T-top cars. The same can be said about the door cars and carpets which have held up great. The dash has been kept from any sun damage or peeling, making it a particularly nice cabin to spend an afternoon in. Fitted with all the factory options of the day; automatic climate control, power windows, locks, and mirrors are all functioning properly. The A/C blows cold making it a great candidate for a daily driver.

The 3S-GTE power plant is notorious for it's reliability and ability to make great horsepower right out of the box. Mechanically this one has been kept largely stock but is sporting a few bonus power adders. The factory air box has been replaced with a reusable cone filter which really amps up the intake tone inside the cabin. To help out on the other end is a Fujitsubo single exit catback exhaust. The exhaust sounds wicked on startup with a deep tone that really opens up with the throttle. Since it still retains the original cat and a full resonator it's not something that's going to drown you out on the highway or piss off the neighbors when you get up for an early morning cars and coffee. Mated to the only gearbox option, a proper 5 speed, makes it a blast out on back roads. The clutch engages firmly, yet doesn't feel like you're in the gym every time you depress the pedal. These cars are very forgiving around town and surprisingly fuel efficient if you can keep your foot out of it. Plus with the overlap with the US MR2 you could literally take it in to your local Toyota dealership for maintenance if you wanted. Since landing here's our techs have gone over the vehicle and replaced some routine wear items. A fresh battery, four new tires, and an oil change have it ready to cruise on out of here into it's next adventure. Don't miss out on a great opportunity for one well maintained, proper sports coupe!
