The 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary) hosted a change of responsibility ceremony at Fort Eustis, August 8.

During the ceremony, U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Vickie G. Culp assumed responsibility of the 7th Trans. Bde. (Ex.) from Command Sgt. Maj. Tony Escalona.

Culp expressed her excitement in taking command of a brigade rich in heritage and history - one of the most deployed brigades in the United States Army.

"Today I start my journey to continue the heritage and traditions, and it is an honor to have the opportunity," said Culp. "Our mission is not just to survive, but to thrive and do it with passion, compassion, humor and some style. I will provide that to you every day."

During her remarks, Culp quoted Eleanor Roosevelt.

"'With a new day comes new strength and new thoughts,'" she recited. "Today is that new day. We will all come together as a team ... progress, and work together to succeed."

Colonel Randall Nelson, 7th Trans. Bde. (Ex.) commander, expressed his confidence in Culp.

"Command Sergeant Major Culp is well-seasoned transporter with the right experience, a vision and forward-thinking attitude," he said. "Much lies ahead for this brigade and I know it's in good hands."

Culp assumed responsibility after serving as a command sergeant major of the 49th Movement Control Battalion, 4th Sustainment Brigade at Fort Hood, Texas.
