Cool Truck of the Day: 1940 International Harvester D-2 Although its predecessor, the D-1, was essentially a rebadged Willys C-113 built in their Toledo, Ohio factory, the D-2 was brought in-house. It was a mostly clean sheet design with a revised 213 cu. in. 6 cylinder producing 78 hp. The Springfield, Ohio plant produced about 80,000 during the model run until it was replaced by the K series in 1940. These well built and very stylish trucks are now part of Americana, and a symbol of an American company with a deep and rich heritage in manufacturing great machinery.
