1973 Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman for Sale

1973 Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman for Sale

Mercedes-Benz introduced the 600 in 1964, an automobile that a generation later is still an engineering and stylistic masterpiece. Powered by an all-alloy 6.3-liter 300 bhp V8 engine, the 600 propels itself with prodigious acceleration. A comprehensive hydraulic and pneumatic system powers the self-leveling suspension, assists the brakes, helps open the massive doors, and smoothly and silently operates the windows, trunk, seats and sunroof. With Mercedes’ characteristic attention to detail, each 600 was essentially custom-built in Sindelfingen/Stuttgart.

Only 428 Pullmans were hand-built during 1963-1981. It was the car of choice for world leaders, heads of state and celebrities. Money was not an object and cost was not a concern for the owners of these supremely elegant automobiles. They wanted the best and the Mercedes Benz 600 Pullman was the best. Pullmans came in a number of configurations in four-door and six-door forms. Each Pullman is a little different inside and out. This particular 600 is one of 304 Pullman four-door limousines ever built.

This particular Pullman is finished in blue with a blue leather interior and it is best described as being in excellent condition. The Mercedes Benz data card (see pictures) for this particular 600 Pullman shows that the car was ordered by the German Industrialist Hans Gloeggler delivered 1973 in Augsburg, Germany. Living part time in France, Gloeggler moved the car to his French estate.  In 1987 the car was sold to a Japanese working at the Japanese Embassy in Bonn. During that time the car was maintained by the local Mercedes-Benz Dealer “KBM” in Andernach/Rhine. Records show that in 1992 this MB dealer replaced the transmission at 85,552 Kilometers. During that time the Japanese owner ordered a complete interior and exterior color change from the original anthracite metallic/parchment into the current color combination blue/blue. The Pullman then was shipped to Kyoto, Japan and shortly after became part of a collection owned by the Japanese Mercedes-Benz Importer, Mr. J. Yoshihiro in Tokyo. In 2014 a German Collector bought the car and shipped it back to Germany. At that time the odometer showed 86,900 kilometers.

The following mechanical work was undertaken by the current owner from July 2014 to August 2015:

Frame and undercarriage was completely cleaned with a new technology called ice blasting. The exhaust system was dismantled and partially replaced with new parts. Brake rotors and calipers replaced. Pneumatic Systems was completely overhauled including air suspension. Front and Rear axle checked out and rubber fittings replaced, steering gearbox re-sealed, wheel bearings replaced, complete engine tune-up, ignition cables replaced, all oils were changed. The Air Conditioning compressor was replaced and refilled with R134a. The Pullman comes with a complete documentation of all improvements as well as Owner History, Service Booklet and Owners-Manual.

Many famous people have owned a Mercedes-Benz 600 such as Hugh Hefner, Elizabeth Taylor, John Lennon, Aristotle Onassis, Jack Nicholson, Elvis Presley and even the Pope. This Mercedes-Benz Pullman is investment quality, and you will not mind if the price reflects the condition.
