10 years ago I found this truck on the internet at first I wasn’t going to buy it as it was too much and too far but my wife Julie made some phone calls and found out this was quite an unique vehicle!! A GMC NAPCO 4 x 4.. So after some phone calls we agreed to buy this truck. Which was locate in Salmon Id, we live in Broken Arrow Ok, so Labor Day weekend we make the mad dash. Check out the truck loaded it on the trailer spent one night there in Salmon then headed home. Not going very fast as I was pulling the trailer and truck with another 1/2 ton GMC, as I am being passed by other cars and trucks they honk I look over and the are giving me the thumbs up and pointing back to truck. Realized real quick we had acquired something we were going to have a lot of fun…
Getting it home after fluid changes, carb overhaul, replaced gas tank etc etc. I got the truck to run. While it was a beast it still got the looks and attention for being a 4 x 4 old GMC. Drove it like it was for about 6 years, then decided to restore, which took me another 4 years, rebuilt or replace parts, sand blasted frame and sheet metal parts, powder coated the frame and other black parts, had a friend repaint the cab and sheet metal Seminole brown and Panama Cream yellow. New tires and interior parts and rebuilt the engine.. It is going again!!!
Have been taking it to car shows here in Oklahoma and it gets plenty of attention…
I thank my wife for talking me into buying this truck, and her patience with me when I would do something dumb while restoring and listening to me gripe!!!
We love the truck as it is now and look forward to lot more car shows!!
