Compare the 2020 and 2021 Model Years of the Mercedes-Benz GLC

With Mercedes-Benz, it has always been "The Best or Nothing." That's why the brand continues to improve its product on an annual basis. Otherwise, we would all still be driving the legendary 1958 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL. The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 for sale in Rochester MN is a prime example of one of those vehicles pushing the envelope towards constant improvement.

One of the most popular SUV vehicles on the road today is the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 SUV. The L symbolizes "luxury," while the "C" implies it is based on the C-Class sedan line. Designed in 2015, the GLC 300 was met with resounding success around the World. Still, in its first-generation, it has received minor updates along the way to the 2021 model in our Napleton Mercedes-Benz of Rochester dealership now.

What's New for 2021?

Relatively minor in nature, the new Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 includes a few changes to the bundlings of accessories that the GLC 300 is famous for.

From a design standpoint, the new GLC 300 features what could be described as the most appealing of any of the big three German manufacturer's offerings. Starting with new LED lighting as standard, it will allow continued development in elevating the design into the future. Other new accessories and features make their way onto the platform, including new alloy wheels that begin with standard 18-inch size and increase up to 20 inches.

There are several new AMG design accessories, including 19-inch AMG twin five-spoke wheels, sport brake upgrades, and black exterior accents. And this does not even consider the new parts and packages included in the AMG lineup of high-performance vehicles.

An Inside Look

Looking inward on the new 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 finds one of the best-equipped interiors in the industry. The base model includes MB-Tex, a synthetic type of material that looks like real leather but retains its good looks 20 years later. But if being real is how you roll, step up to the real thing, complete with real leather and wood veneer panels and trim pieces. The look is unbelievable; the feeling you get from being inside the cabin is even more so.

Standard for 2021 is keyless entry and keyless ignition. A recent development in Mercedes-Benz world is the Mercedes-Benz User Experience or MBUX for short. Combined with a new 10.25-inch touchscreen, the system can be operated via a touchpad on the center console, tiny touchpads on the steering wheel, and finally by our favorite, the "Hey Mercedes" function. With that, the system awakes and perform many operations like "call home," "get me directions to the football stadium," or "Find an Italian restaurant near me." It's like you have a personal assistant riding in the passenger seat with you.

Safety first is a Mercedes-Benz touchstone. To that end, the GLC 300 is loaded with technology that helps to relieve stress behind the wheel. Blind-Spot Assist with exit warning assist uses radar sensors to alert you to a vehicle within your blind-spot. If the driver turns the turn indicator on, it will sound an audible alert if there are any obstructions in the adjacent lane. The system works even while the car is parked in a stationary position, alerting occupants to the presence of other cars, bicycles, pedestrians and more.

Crosswind Assist is also on-board, using the car's stability control, power steering, braking and suspension sensors to detect strong crosswinds and turbulence from 18-wheeler trucks. Using strategic braking, the system keeps the vehicle heading in the right direction, even when the wind disrupts its travel direction.

Motivating the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300

Power for the new 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC is supplied by a 2.0-Liter turbocharged Inline-4 cylinder engine that is a carryover from the 2020 model. That version saw a 14 horsepower increase over the previous version, now yielding a total of 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The GLC 300 is a potent package and is also available with Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC all-wheel-drive. Add a stellar 9-speed automatic transmission for an efficient powertrain that can carry you to the end of the World and back again.
