Description

The 1955 Dodge was all-new with a longer 120 in wheelbase and 212.1 in overall length than the 1954 cars. They shared their basic mechanicals with the De Soto, but featured special styling. These cars lasted through the 1955 and 1956 model years before being replaced by the all-new 1957 design. The Coronet was the only line to feature the 230 Cu In Getaway I6 as well as the 270 Cu In Red Ram V8. Coronets were available in all body styles except the convertible. Sedans feature "Coronet" badges on the fenders, while the station wagons are called "Suburban". Although the hardtop coupe was officially named "Lancer", it wore only "Coronet" badges. Turn signals were standard on the Royal and Custom Royal models but optional on the Coronet. This particular Custom Royal Lancer is said to be almost all original with no major restoration ever being done to it minus new paint a number of years ago. The paint on the car is in very good condition and shows no major imperfections anywhere. Both front and rear bumpers are in good overall condition but do show some pitting and scratches. Nothing major or uncommon for a 54 year old car. All the trim and bright work on the car is in good condition with the exception of some pitting around the rear tail lights. Inside, the interior is almost all original except for the front seat which has been reupholstered and the carpet. Both door panels, headliner, rear seat and kick panels are in good, original condition. There are some very minor tears in the headliner but none are longer then one inch. The Dash is in good condition and all gauges are in good working order as well as the lights, optional blinkers, wipers, and brake lights. Under the hood, the 270 Cu In Hemi V8 runs great and starts up with just a turn of the key. It is believed to be the original motor for the car with a motor number of D553-63884. The engine isn't highly detailed but very clean. The automatic transmission shifts with no problems and is controlled by the lever unique to these Dodge's. The car comes with power brakes and power steering, both of which work with no problems. In the trunk there is a full size spare as well as the original jack. The car does come with fender skirts but they are currently red. On the road, the car performs great. Brakes straight and no fade or pulling to either side. The Hemi under the hood delivers more then enough power to let you cruise at comfortable highway speeds. The underside is solid as well as the trunk which shows no rot or major repair. The current mileage shows 63,578 and the VIN number is 34885917. The car is being sold on a clean Missouri title.
