The future 11-story headquarters for Brown & Brown Insurance can be seen going up on July 10, 2019, on the site of the old Lloyd Buick Cadillac on the northwest corner of North Beach Street and Mary McLeod Bethune Boulevard. The headquarters is expected to open in late 2020 bringing hundreds of white-collar professionals to downtown Daytona Beach, including some from other parts of the country. Jim Lloyd, grandson of the late J. Saxton Lloyd, holds a photo shot in the 1960s of the old Lloyd Buick Cadillac dealership his family ran for several decades. Jim Lloyd today works as service and parts director for the dealership, now known as Ritchey Cadillac Buick GMC, which was purchased by partners Glenn Ritchey Sr. and Ted Serbousek in 2006. The dealership now located at 932 N. Nova Road, Daytona Beach, will mark its 90th year in business in 2020. [News-Journal/David Tucker]
