1954 Beetle Sunroof Sedan For Sale

SOLD!!

The early Beetles are in big demand these days and the market is climbing.
Finding a good, properly stock example is pretty tough, and is even tougher if you was one with
the massive canvas sunroof. This Beetle, a 1954 model, is a great example of an "Early Oval"
These cars differ quite a bit from the more common 56-57 models when you look closely.

This car has received a very nice restoration by a company on the East Coast for it's Nevada based owner.
It was a body-off restoration and the car started as a very proper original example
that was in need of minimal welding and bodywork.
The restoration was fully documented from start to finish.
Work on the car was completed in 2012 and the car has been driven very minimally since.

The car is currently located in the Los Angeles area and is available for inspection by serious buyers.
It is a very clean and pretty car and it is mechanically a very good runner and driver.

The black with red interior is gorgeous, the tan sinroof pics up well on the headliner and carpet colors.
Nice selection of accessories dress the car up well and the wide whitewall tires really give it some class.
This is as iconic of an image for a  "Vintage VW" as there is.

Gorgeous

Front apron is the correct early "H" pattern

Fuel tank is the flat top, fat cap version.

Back of the dash looks good and the wiring is clean.
Nice period Motorola rado is intalled and a modern speaker fitted behind the grille.

Looks nice up here

Pop out rear quarter windows are the perfect addition for a ragtop car...the breeze is fantastic on a nice warm day.

The big "3 fold" sunroof is the absolute best...in 1956 the sunroof design changed and became
significantly smaller. These big ragtops on the Splits and Early Ovals are a fantastic experience.

The car is fitted with the proper bumpers and trims for the era.
The hubcaps with painted logos and the wheel trim rings look so nice.

The chrome gravel guards on the rear fenders add a bit of flash and I spy the optional passenger side view
mirror is fitted to this car.

Love love love that big sunroof!

Nice tan canvas.

The 36 horse engine out back is an excellent runner and has been rebuilt at the time of the restoration.
It is quite clean and runs great. I do see some peeling of paint on the intake manifold and a few signs of use
but it is still presentable and proper.

These 36hp engines are great...they just run so smooth.
When properly tuned they just hum such a great note, especially through the single tip exhaust system used on these early cars.

This photo was taken at the time of the restoration, it has just a bit of road grime since, but you can see here
that the whole underside of the car was cleaned and painted during the restoration.
It is not "concours" level perhaps, but it is obviously very clean just the same.

The "Heart" taillights are one of the coolest lights VW ever produced and they are correct on a 1954.
The short "Euro style" bumper guards are also correct and look fantastic.

Bam!
That red interior is just so awesome against the black body color!
Wow!

Seats are done with black piping and in the proper stitch patterns.
Door panels as well look fantastic.

Interior looks great on this car...the matching red material on the B pillar is correct for the early model Deluxe.

Very nice and clean in here

The "banjo" steering wheel is a fanastic addition to the car and fitted with a Wolfsburg crest center.
Dash is clean and un-cut, speedometer is the proper "clear needle" version.

Grooved door handles and window cranks are another early model detail.

Beautiful

Nice shot through the big sunroof

Bird's eye view!

Wolfsburg crest hood badge

Caps and trim rings.
Tires are excellent

Such a beauty

Semaphore turn signals are another trademark early Beetle attribute that was lost on US spec cars from 56 on up.
These are fully functiona as you can see.
Another nice detail is the proper large SEKURIT logo on the pop out glass.

Semaphore down...

Pop outs look excellent

Nice back end on this girl!

The "heart" taillights

Beautiful

Passenger side mirror

In closing, this is a very nice car.
Well done and well sorted it is a delightful driver and a great example of an early sunroof Oval.
