The color is called Parika Red and it is stunning.
Original for 1960 and original to this car.

The car was done with a strong eye for authenticity and the owner made choices like the blackwall tires
that represented the way the car was first delivered in Lompoc California in 1960 at Clark Larson VW.
That s right...the car has been in California since new and prior to the restoration it had
just 60,000 miles on the odometer.

The quality of the paint and body is very nice indeed...sprayed by the folks at Orange County Auto Body.
All the fenders and panels fit excellent and the car truly has a factory fresh look to it.

Here's a copy of the VW Trends magazine article on the car from September 2001.
It has also been a consistant award winner at the local VW events including the following
1st place Volksfest 2000
1st place VVWCA California Sring Show
and a 2nd place at the epic VW Classic in Irvine California against seriously stiff competition.
It has won other awards as well...these are just a few.

The blackwall tires are a vintage mold and look phenomenal on the car, especially against
the off white wheel rims with the trim rings and properly painted VW logo hubcaps.

Subtle and low key...not flashy like the majority of convertibles out there with the wide whitewalls.

The fender wells are all painted and detailed and the chassis was powder coated and appears in excellent condition from end to end.

Very nice and smooth down the sides with a nice crisp reflection in the body panels.

Proper early Karmann body badge.

California year of manufacture license plates are a nice touch as well.

The Wolfsburg Crest hood badge.

Very clean headlights and chrome.

Nice hood fit, excellent workmanship.

Under the hood is well detailed.

Fuel tank is painted body color which is correct for this era of convertible.

Nice detailing under the hood with smooth shiny paint on the underside of the hood and hardware.

Super clean in the spare tire well area as well.

Original jack and handle are in place.

Excellent condition up here and nice and straight.
The owner states that the front clip of the car was professionally replaced during the restoration due to
a light front end damage...rather than bash it out and try to make it right, an excellent original cluip was carefully
grafted on and you would never know it by looking at it.

Fresh hardware throughout.

Matching spare wheel and tire.

The top is superb and features the proper chrome trim that is often missing from restorations
of these cars.

The engine and transmission were rebuilt just 2200 miles ago by Bob Mohler, a well known
early engine rebuilder in the Southern California VW scene. It runs and drives excellent.
And is very clean and well detailed.

Proper early rear apron.

Decklid has the original rain catcher underneath.

Sweet.

The interior of the car is also well done with top quality materials and the same attention to detail
as the rest of the car.

So lets open the door and look inside!

Door panels are excellent.

Dashboard is very clean and un-cut.
Excellent steering wheel with proper horn ring and button.

Odometer was set back to the time of the restoration...so what you see here is what is on the car.

Early Blaupunkt AM FM radio works!

Top latches are clean and nice.
Headliner material is the proper cloth.

The correct rear view mirror in excellent shape.

Headliner is very clean and the top frame has been fully rebuilt with new wood and rubber seals and padding.

A nice shot of the dashboard.
Pretty factory looking in all respects.
