1958 VW Single Cab Transporter For Sale

This is a great truck.
Very solid, good runner and driver, nice character to it.
It is located in Southern California in the hands of a long time VW nut.

It is titled as 58 model although the bumpers are 59 and newer models.
Body is quite straight...all very stock and never messed with.

The Bus has a nifty sun visor on it that is quite the rare accessory...you can see it in this shot through the windoes.
Interior paint is all original Dove Blue.
Dynamat sound deadener installed on the roof to keep noise down a bit.

Original 15" wheels on all four corners...these are the proper Bus only wheels and the painted center caps are correct for a working class model like this truck.

Original wiring all looks intact...controls are all as they should be

Steering wheel in ivory (should be black technically)
Dash looks very clean and uncut and I like the original paint finish.

The floors are very solid...a bit of surface rust was present that was cleaned and treated
and sprayed in primer.

Heater tube is clean

Front nose has a little paint chipping but looks very solid down at the seam

Some obvious filler cracking in spots on the nose.
If you look real close under the dash at the nose skin you can see that there was some light damage at some point in it's life.

Odd little grab handle on the door...window seals have been painted over.

Ice pick door handles

Window latch

Inner door handle and panel material is not original.

The bed on the truck is in pretty good shape.
Scratched up...a little surface rust here and there but overall has survived well.
Recently the owner treated the bed metal and sprayed a coat of primer on it to make it look a lot cleaner.

Here is a shot of the bed as it is right now.

Rain gutters are solid.

Roof is clean

Bed is good...these photos show it prior to its recent primer job...you can see it is quite solid.

Gates are all in pretty nice shape as well

Pretty big gap here under the rear gate...you can see the hinges are pulled up a fair bit
(see the hinge at the left)...this along with a few dings along the edge of the bed.

Underside of the bed looks pretty good...still original grey finish...a wee bit of surface rust but nothing major.

Floor in here is really nice.

Latch on the treasure chest door

The little swivel latch cover dealie-bob on the outside of the door,

Production tags are all present

Engine number

Crank start rear apron

Apron has been poorly modified for a Beetle exhaust at some point.

License light is correct

Underneath is very solid.

Engine is pretty dry underneath
Muffler was replaced recently.

Oil bath air cleaner is complete.

Engine is a very good runner.

Still 6 volt electrics
Battery cables replaced recently

Here is a quick peek at the visor mount.

Door hinges look solid

Passenger side vent wing latch is broken

Seat holder

Door panels have the original pockets.
But the panelling material is not original. Note the correct early grooved door handle.

Very solid under here!

Awesome!

Remnants of some old logos on the gates...these were recently sanded down and primed...but it is interesting to see some past history

Reflector is not original...

Jack points are solid.

Trans is a recent rebuild

A couple of non original bolt holes from a previously installed oil cooler.

At one point it had larger taillights too, but these were surface mounted
so the original lights could go right back in...but there are some screw holes remaining.

Gate latch

Fresh air box in nice shape.
I like the old school compass as well.

Early floor mat in awesome shape.

Under the seat is very clean

Nice!!

Great dash

Original headlights

Center brace on sun visor

Drivers side sliding window latch has a broken hook at the bottom

Proper original sun visor inside

This is a great truck to just drive and enjoy as it is or a wonderful basis for a restoration!!

This shot shows it as it sits today...side gate sprayed in white primer.

This photo shows it prior to the primer spray with the logos remnants.
I love the visor on the front...a very rare item and it looks so cool!

Here is a close up of some filler cracks on the nose

Painted rubbers and a little surface rust under the seal that should get some attention
before it goes farther.

Rear window seal also painted over long ago

Great old truck...lots of character just as it sits.
Good runner and driver...love it!
