Originally sold from Manhattan Motorcars of New York, this 2001 Porsche 986 Boxster was ordered with an Arctic Silver Metallic finish over a Black partial leather interior, 17” Boxster Design wheels with colored center crests, the Sport Package, Porsche Stability Management, heated front seats, and more. This meticulously maintained and sparingly driven example is now being offered by its seller out of New Jersey showing less than 10k miles on the odometer.
This 986 comes finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with a black power-retractable soft top. Additional features include a speed-activated rear spoiler, side air intakes, and roll hoops. The optional 17” Boxster Design wheels feature colored Porsche crests and are mounted with older Michelin Pilot SX tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin features Black partial leather upholstery with power-adjustable and heated seats. The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a central tachometer, 160-MPH speedometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. Additional features include automatic climate control, cruise control, a factory CD stereo, CD storage slots, a wind deflector, embroidered floor mats, and power windows and locks.
A mid-mounted 2.7-liter flat-six engine sends up to 217 HP and 192 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. The seller adds that a major service was carried out by Michael’s Motorcars Inc of New Jersey, including oil service and replacements to the fuel pump, fuel tank module seal, and battery at 8,306 miles.
This sale will include a clean title, a window sticker, and owner’s manuals.

@NCKLNDM Thank you for your comments. We believe we can all agree that this example is certainly a great example that would require only very minor sorting. Since your PPI, items such as the battery, minor detailing, etc. have been addressed. We feel the specialness of this Boxster is you are starting with a real example - no paintwork, no stories.

I agree with you that none of the PPI findings from 2022 are necessarily problematic. I just had an opportunity to acquire a same year car in an S variant. Am enjoying it so much that I want another Boxster which is why I’m bidding on this one.
Shared the PPI info here so that other potentially interested bidders can see that there’s not much here to be concerned about other than the tires.
@NCKLNDM its nice and valuable to share this. I must say, you presented as if any of this is problematic which in my opinion it isn't. What I get here is this is an authentic original car that could use tires and some service. I think you passed on a nice car.
To interested bidders:
I had a PPI done on this vehicle in early 2022 when it was owned by a dealer in Ohio. Decided to pass on the car at that time and subsequently purchased a very low mileage Boxster S. Now back in the market for another Boxster as these are amazingly enjoyable cars to drive.
PPI details are below. Other than the tires needing to be replaced, not a whole lot that needs to be done.

Complete Inspection - PPI
Vehicle road tested about 7 miles. Vehicle was outside in extremely cold conditions. Shifter and ignition switch were stiff.
Tires are square and vehicle had severe vibration for first 5 miles. Vibration did get better but still present.
Battery tested weak after road test. 533 available CCA out of 800 CCA. Will need charged and tested. Low voltage faults present in vehicle.
Radio needs security code entered. Could not verify operation.
Tires appear original to vehicle. DOT dated 2000. Highly recommend 4 tires before vehicle driven for any distance.
Foam in climate control vents. Showers out with fan on higher speeds. Foam is most likely from door seal inside heater box. Will require dash and heater box removal.
History for fluid changes. Transmission, coolant and brake fluid time dependent. 3 Carfax entries.
Radio buttons and cup holder surfaces sticky.
Lighter does not function. Will not lock in to heat.
Drive belt recommended at 6 years or 60,000 miles.
Spark plugs due by time.
Oil pan and bell housing area appear to have been cleaned. Would be normal for recent oil change, unable to verify if any leaks present in this area.
Rear main would not be uncommon for age and lack of use. Leaks that are not evident now might develop with use.
Alarm faults present, cleared. Will need to recheck.
Scratches in paint. Touch up on right quarter.

@155mph Thank you for your questions. The date code to the tires is "3300", which we can infer, with this mileage they are original set. The depths are very good and read between approximately 6/32-8/32. The tires ride smoothly with no flat spots, however the age should be considered if planning to extensively drive this Boxster.
