If you're a fan of style, speed and comfort, you simply can't go wrong with Pontiac's storied GTO. The 'goat' practically defined the golden age of Detroit, and by the time its first production run was over, it had become the best-selling muscle car of all time. Not surprisingly, demand for these cornerstone classics continues to be strong. And in 2015, we sold six GTOs to six very satisfied customers. Sporting a fresh, body-off restoration and full documentation, this clean hardtop is one of the finest Pontiac muscle cars we've ever featured. With its original engine, solid sheetmetal and striking Barrier Blue on Parchment color combination, it's the perfect car for anyone who cruises fast, wide and loud. And if you're searching for an impressive classic that'll roll straight out of the showroom and right onto the red carpet, it's the opportunity of a lifetime!

BODYWORK/TRIM

Located as a rolling chassis that was complete with an original engine block, this real-deal GTO is the beneficiary of a body-off, nut-and-bolt restoration that was completed in early 2016. Thanks to just over $24K of sheetmetal work, the car's solid body was meticulously straightened around new floors, a new fender and a pair of fresh quarters. Naturally, that first-rate toil included a slick coat of correct Barrier Blue 2-stage that's highlighted by bright white pinstripes. And today, this razor-sharp Poncho is a first class head turner that proves things of quality have no fear of time.

Tough, understated and attractive, this coupe perfectly defines Pontiac's lasting legacy of tempering sophistication with aggression. The front of the car is dominated by trademark twin grilles, which anchor a wide “GTO” script and ornate parking lamps between stacked T3 headlights and a broad bumper. Behind those grilles, an arrowhead-branded hood balances a tasteful scoop in front of clean glass that's founded in highly polished stainless. At the sides of that hood, expressive 'coke bottle' fenders form a sporty profile that centers traditional door handles and correct emblems between full rocker guards and a simple mirror. And at the back of those fenders, a stainless-trimmed valance hangs a sharp “PONTIAC” script and sinister taillights between small reverse lamps, an ominous “G T O” badge and a second broad bumper.

ENGINE

Pop the car's long hood and the first thing you'll notice is a 389 cubic inch Pontiac V8 that's been completely rebuilt and wrapped in attractive Turquoise skin. Less obvious, of course, is that stalwart mill's correct 9778789 casting number, February (B) 3rd (3), 1966 (6) casting date and Tri-power, 4-speed-exclusive “WS” assembly stamp. At the top of the block, correct Rochester carburetors bridge the gap between polished air cleaners, bright stainless fluid lines and a correct, cast iron intake. That intake rides between correct heads, which hang an AC breather and attractive valve covers over hardened valve seats and a spry hydraulic cam. A familiar points distributor jolts spark through fresh Packard TV R Suppression cables. Cooling is provided by a shrouded and decaled radiator, which sends water around a correct fan via GM-branded hoses and traditional tower clamps. Charge comes courtesy of a freshly rebuilt alternator and modern, Delco-topped battery. Charred dinosaurs float through nicely restored exhaust manifolds. And aesthetically, the car's impressive engine bay is fully detailed, from its smooth black fenders and matted hood all the way to its yellow carb spring and familiar AC fuel filter.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

Logging very few miles since their thorough restoration, this goat's fresh floors and super clean frame are completely free of significant issues and major defects. The stout 389 sends power to a wide-ratio Muncie 4-speed, which spins a correct 10-bolt axle, a correct posi-traction differential and correct, 3.55 gears. At the sides of that rock-solid drivetrain, aluminized, true-dual pipes connect the aforementioned manifolds with welded, dual-chamber mufflers. At the sides of that booming soundtrack, a rebuilt Heavy Duty Suspension mixes trick BMR springs with fresh AC Delco shocks. Stops are provided by four power-assisted drums. Factory power steering plays well with a new gearbox. Muscle meets the pavement through 14-inch Rally Is, which spin G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Super Sport redlines around stainless trim rings and muted center caps. And absolutely everything, from this Poncho's fresh stainless fuel tank to its clean Turquoise oil pan, is aligned, sorted and ready to cruise!

INTERIOR

Open the doors and you'll find a correct Parchment interior that plays well against this coupe's vivid profile. Front and center, firm bucket and bench seats wrap bright chrome trim around cool, pleated hides. The engine's vitals are displayed by familiar Rally Gauges, which integrate a correct tachometer in to a correctly padded dash that's complete with faux wood trim and a correct Delco radio. On the floors, like-new carpet anchors a tall Hurst shifter between thick, Pontiac-themed floor mats and classy, Fisher-themed sills. At the sides of the car, fresh door panels hang new chrome handles under straight stainless trim and brilliant GTO insignias. In front of the driver, a Custom Sport Steering Wheel spins a faux wood rim around a teal, Pontiac-branded horn button. And behind the passengers, a clean trunk sandwiches a correct jack and full-size spare tire between a standard mat and requisite decklid decal.
