2018-Cadillac-XT5-Lafayette-LACadillac has manufactured some of the most luxurious models of the 21st century. Each passing year sheds light on new updates and innovations that stand to make these cars better than their predecessors. With that said, here’s a look at four Cadillacs that have undergone big changes for 2018.

Cadillac CT6

If you notice a change in exterior paint options from last year’s CT6 sedan, it’s because Cadillac has decided to axe some of its previous colors like Moonstone Metallic and Dark Emerald Metallic in favor of adding shades like Satin Steel Metallic and Red Horizon Tintcoat.

The interior gets a few updates too, including the 2.6 version of the brand’s trademark CUE infotainment system. You can now utilize CUE Collection to search for and install apps on the system’s touch-screen display. Another added benefit is Teen Driver, which lets you limit things like speed and audio levels while your teen is in the driver’s seat. You’ll also get a report card of your teen’s performance so you can monitor their driving habits. This improved CUE system carries over to the CT6 Plug-In model as well.

Cadillac ATS

Changes to the ATS sedan and coupe are a bit extensive in terms of what gets taken off of the amenity lineup. You won’t have exterior paints like Deep Amethyst Metallic and Bronze Dune Metallic anymore, but you can have Satin Steel Metallic if you don’t mind the extra cost.

The Carbon Black and Black Sport Appearance packages are also gone in 2018, but you do gain the third version of Cadillac’s CUE infotainment system to offset some of these removals. In fact, this impressive bundle offers features such as navigation, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, smartphone integration, and the CUE Collection app store.

Cadillac XT5

The XT5 crossover has added three new shades to the mix for 2018 models, including Harbor Blue Metallic, Deep Amethyst Metallic, and Bronze Dune Metallic. You’ll also notice some fancy new accessories up for grabs in 2018, including all-weather floor mats and translucent taillamps.

Whereas the previous XT5 offered the Standard base model solely with front-wheel drive, you now get an all-wheel-drive variant too. We round out this list of updates with the addition of GM’s signature Rear Seat Reminder. It encourages drivers to double-check the back seat for things left behind, such as children or personal items, before they exit the cabin.

Cadillac Escalade

As with previous models, the Cadillac Escalade loses a few paint colors but adds Satin Steel Metallic as an available option. The interior also gets a makeover thanks to Shale, Maple Sugar, and Jet Black embellishments. These accents only serve to reinforce the Escalade’s stylish appeal.

Under the hood, GM swaps out the previous eight-speed automatic transmission in favor of a 10-speed automatic. And if you’ve ever dealt with an underinflated tire before, you’ll feel thankful for the Escalade’s Tire Fill Alert system. It employs both audible and visual cues to help you manage your tire’s inflation without the need for an air pressure gauge.
