This 1977 Chevy Camaro Z28 has been neatly restored with some tasteful upgrades. The car was imported by the current owner from Wacol in Texas back in 2008 as a neat original car. Over the last 15 years, the car has been slowly rebuilt and improved upon with the vision of creating a comfortable classic muscle car that could be driven daily, run cool and present well.

When the car arrived, it was sent over to Mint Condition in Southport who were tasked with repairing some minor dents before fully repainting the car in Silver with black pearl SS stripes. The car was in the workshop for four months and also received new grille, headlights and tail lights while the window trims were painted black to better suit the colour scheme. Since then, the car has always been garaged and protected. The look externally is completed with set of polished Pro Star wheels with white lettered tyres.

Inside, the car retains its original hood lining and door cars with the seats retrimmed using marine vinyl in 2010. New side glass and regulators were also fitted at the same time. In 2014, the console was replaced and a new dash fitted in 2018 along with a full set of Autometer Cobalt series gauges. Keeping things comfortable in the cabin is a ‘Vintage Air’ integrated air conditioning system. There is a small stereo with aftermarket CD player in the dash and twin speakers in the parcel tray. Inside the boot was cleaned and painted in grey stone chip with a custom vinyl mat and covers.

Under the bonnet lives a 350ci Chevy V8 crate engine bought from Eagle Auto Parts in 2011. The engine has since been upgraded with an MSD ignition system and a new 670cfm Street Avenger carburettor. The cooling system has been upgraded to an alloy radiator with twin thermo fans. Exhaust gasses escape through Hooker headers into a mandrel bent stainless steel exhaust with Trans Am inspired tips by KV’s Race Fabrication.

The engine is paired to a Turbo 350 automatic transmission which went through a major service earlier this year. Power is fed to the rear wheels through a new Posi rear end with 3.00 ratio centre along with all new seals and axles by Aussie Diffs in Currumbin in 2015. The factory suspension was rebuilt by Pedders in 2009. Power steering is fitted with the steering box refurbished in 2016. The factory brakes received new booster and master cylinder along with Wilwood calipers fitted to the factory rotors up front. The engine bay received all new wiring earlier this year for added reliability.

These mid 70s Camaros are fun and often under rated American muscle cars. This one being a Z28, neatly restored and with a bunch of great upgrades, should be a great classic cruiser for someone.
