Emily Catena, a freshman at UW-Sheboygan is the Student Spotlight for May 2018.
A manager at the DQ in Saukville, she plans to major in Business and transfer to UW-Madison to complete her bachelor’s degree and then attend law school.

UW-Sheboygan student spotlight Emily Catena shares her goals

Emily Catena, a 19-year-old originally from Port Washington, who is currently a Business Major at the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan, is the focus of the college’s student spotlight for the month of May. A 2017 graduate of Port Washington High School, she is one busy and ambitious young woman with plans to transfer to UW-Madison to complete a business degree, attend law school and become a corporate lawyer.

What led you to choose your major? I have always had a strong interest in business, which was instilled by my grandfather, Donald B. Zorn. Seeing his successes (Navy career followed by a successful career at Blount International Inc.) and how he used that success to help people, inspired me to follow a similar career path. I have also always had an interest in law, and so it made the most sense to combine these two subject areas into a career that would be the most interesting for me.

What surprised you most about UW-Sheboygan when you arrived on campus? I was surprised at how welcoming people at the UW Sheboygan campus were. When I first arrived, I thought that everyone would already know each other because they are from the area. In reality, the students are from many different places, and welcome others with open arms. I have met some amazing people and friends at this campus.
