Australian packaging company Amcor to cut 2,000 jobs due to slow demand

Australia’s biggest packaging company Amcor is set to cut 2,000 jobs.

It comes as the company’s net profit fell 12 per cent to $453 million for the half-year to December.

The sackings are due to slow demand for consumer products and higher raw materials prices.

The ASX welcomed the news, with Amcor shares rising to 1.40 per cent.
