Such a perfect color for your location. It's 7/8's camouflaged already. Your road splash there will not show as much either.

Completed pictures coming soon. This has been my project for the last couple months. High clearance read bumper.

Here I was testing the gas spring. Paint is drying on the main part of the bumper. And unfortunately I'll be out of town for work for the next couple days. I'll get some pics on here this weekend of the finished product.

Desert sand mica and black were meant for each other.

Awesome, thanks for sharing. Turned out very nice indeed with the tire weight on the passenger side.

I love the DSM and this great forum! I have had my 2006 for about a year now and I love this rig, it's hands down the best truck I've ever owned.

By chance does any one happen to know the 'exact' ordering number # for this particular Desert Sand Mica color?

I'm kicking around the idea of replacing my Tacoma's original hood with one that has a scoop but needs to be painted to exactly match the Desert Sand Mica color.

(EDIT: Found the following site, while searching the web, hope this can help out anyone else http://www.toyotapart.com/Toyota_Paint.pdf

    Found mine under SINGLE COLOR.

    CODE: 4Q2

    COLOR: DESERT SAND MICA

    PART NUMBER: 00258-004Q2

The hood with a scoop that I was thinking of replacing it with is black.

P.S......and yes the hood with the scoop is from the same year as mine.

    Yes, now this is 'rare'!

A Tacoma in Desert Sand Mica with a hood scoop!

Your right, don't really see to many in this color...let alone one with a hood scoop!

Well I finally found a hood with a scoop on Craigslist for $100 bucks. Originally the seller was asking $300 for it.
Afterwards I then sent the hood along with the truck to a paint and body shop to have it painted and installed on the truck.

    Here are the results.....

    Before, without hood scoop:

Looks great man, same color as mine. I have no hood scoop but the Desert Sand Mica stays looking nice longer than most other colors, road splash is the same color and blends in from a short distance away.

45longcolt, thanks for the kind words.

Yes you are right, matching the paint to its exact shade was my main concern.
They (paint and body shop) explained to me that they would first remove the original hood, send the hood to a mix-paint shop to use it to help to get a paint match when blending-mixing the paint to get the exact shade of Desert Sand Mica that my truck (2008) originally has. Once done, afterwards they installed the hood with scoop, taped off other areas of the truck then painted the hood using the process known as "blending" to match the fenders.
Remember keep in mind that over the years with the elements, temperature changes, rain and sun, the original paint is a bit different in shade color. Totally different than brand new paint.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the outcome.
I'm now trying to get used to having a scoop on my hood, when driving-I like it a lot!
