The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a luxury saloon and was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116 S-Class which succeeded previous Mercedes-Benz models dating back to the mid-1950s. As the flagship of the Mercedes-Benz line-up, the S-Class has debuted many of the company's latest innovations, including drivetrain technologies, interior features, and safety systems (such as seatbelt pre-tensioners). The W220 S-Class was completely restyled in 1999 with a body that was slightly smaller and lighter than its predecessor. Production of the W220 S-Class totalled 485,000 units; slightly more than the production totals of its predecessor. As with each new S-Class, the W220 brought in new innovations such as Airmatic air suspension and Active Ventilated Seats (which used miniature fans in the seats to move air through perforations).Originally registered on 22nd May 2001, this S600 limousine has only had one owner from new. That owner being Roger Taylor an English musician, singer and multi-instrumentalist, best known as the drummer for the rock band Queen. The car presents very well in its original colour combination of black with black interior. It has been exceptionally well cared for and we are advised she drives very well with no known faults. A well stamped service book accompanies this Mercedes and judging by the picnic tables to the rear, we can only assume Mr. Taylor employed a chauffeur occasionally. Offered for sale without reserve, this S600 L with its interesting and highly esteemed owner, offers astonishing value given the original capital cost.

Lot 114A

The fifth generation of the legendary SL series of two-door convertible sports cars was known as the R230. It featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario roof, a first for the SL class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. The flagship models were built by AMG in the form of the SL55 and SL65, both highly tuned versions of the SL500 and SL600 respectively. The SL55 was powered by a mighty supercharged version of the 5.5 litre, V8 which produced 493bhp and achieved 0-62 in 4.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 155mph (governed). In theory, the SL55 could reach 190mph if the car was derestricted but, for many, the acceleration and top speed is impressive enough in its standard form! The SL55 AMG is further enhanced by an F1 Performance Package offering a truly dynamic driving experience; this high-performance version of the roadster is closely derived from the official FIA Safety Car for 2002. The enhanced dynamic characteristics relate to an extensive range of revisions to its body - engine cooling system, brakes, and suspension. Larger cooling-air intakes and an additional engine-oil cooler ensure that the AMG V8 super-charged engine is maintained at the optimum operating temperatures during aggressive driving. The SL55 AMG with the Performance Package also draws on its Formula 1 counterpart when it comes to the chassis set-up, together with the choice of wheels and tyres. The Mercedes-Benz AMG engineers based the configuration on the set-up used by official FIA Safety Car driver Bernd Mayländer on all the F1 Grand Prix circuits. This example of the incredibly desirable SL55 with the F1 Performance Pack is finished in gleaming Obsidian Black over a mid-grey and black ash interior; it appears almost unmarked. Fitted with a set of hollow-spoke, 19" F1 split-rim alloys, shod with 4 correct Pirelli tyres, the car is also de-restricted to its maximum 186mph should you be brave enough! Options including panoramic glass Vario roof, Bose sound-system, key-less go, CD and Command NAV. The SL55 has ten service invoices, the last service undertaken in January 2020. Maintained regardless of cost this Mercedes has recently benefited from new control arms and bushes fitted to the front suspension and a recent ABC flush, the work costing circa £1,500. This wonderful looking example is an opportunity not to be missed. A collectable, comfortable and extremely capable modern classic.

Lot 12

The W114/W115 models were the first post-war Mercedes-Benz production car to use a newly engineered suspension, not derived from preceding models. The new format of semi-trailing rear arms and ball-joint front end first displayed in the W114/W115 would be used in all new Mercedes passenger car models until the development of the multi-link rear suspensions of the 1980s. These models were  the mid-sized saloon model for Mercedes, positioned below the S-Class. The car was designed by French auto designer Paul Bracq who was chief designer at Mercedes-Benz for models from 1957 to 1967, a period that included models such as the Grosser Mercedes-Benz 600.This solid, US import, is a timeless classic and is presented in blue with blue interior and had its suspension lowered to give it that slightly edgy look! The car comes with some spares including different headlights and is MoT exempt. In 2004 a Greek taxi driver called  Gregorios Sachinidis donated his 1976 Mercedes-Benz 240D ( diesel version of this model)  to the Mercedes-Benz Museum Collection with 4.6 million kilometres (2.9 million miles) on the odometer, which is recognised as the Mercedes-Benz with the highest recorded mileage known to date. The car presented here today are used throughout Europe as everyday work horses and this is no exception. Very practical with its considerable sized boot and plenty of room for passengers.

Lot 130

The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class has been manufactured since 1954. The designation SL derives from the German 'Sport Leicht' or 'Sport Light' and was first applied to the 300SL 'Gullwing,' named after the upward-opening doors. The term SL-Class refers to the marketing variations of the vehicle, including the numerous engine configurations spanning five design generations. The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 cars were produced from 1971 through to 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes-Benz after the G-Class. The R107 took the chassis components of the mid-size W114 model and mated them to the larger engines from the S-Class (W116) and has become a benchmark of quality throughout the years. This fine example of this highly desirable model is presented in metallic blue with cream leather upholstery. It comes with its factory hardtop and the hood is in good condition also. With only four owners from new, the present owner has just spent circa £4000 with Auto Revive London just to bring it up to scratch! The history file contains many invoices showing work carried out over the years, which includes a respray by Alan Day Mercedes-Benz and a retrim to a very high standard as you can see today. It also comes with its owners handbook in a leather wallet and its service history book. The 500SL is always the one to have, owing to its smooth V8 which is great for those long summer tours with the hood down!

Lot 136

Following the resounding success of the R107, the R129 Mercedes-Benz SL had a rather tough act to follow, as it still had to carry on the tradition of a fast and reliable grand touring convertible. The advantage designers had with the R129 was technology. By the time the final car rolled off the production line in 1989, these earlier models had been in production for 18 years with very little change. Therefore, the SL500 featured many new and innovative ideas, such as controlled electronic damping, automatically expanding roll-over bar and a more modern multi-link rear axle. In addition to this was a fully operating electric roof, windows, door mirrors and seats, which made this model easy and comfortable to operate. The new SL also boasted a more powerful engine and the stopping power was aided by anti-lock braking for added reassurance.First registered in March 1993 having been supplied by Normand (Mayfair) Ltd. of Wembley. This low owner example of the Mercedes-Benz R129 is presented in Signal Red coachwork with biscuit leather trim which to the front has recently been re-upholstered. Supplied with the desirable AMG alloy wheels and hardtop. Offered with the Mercedes book pack which includes a comprehensively stamped service booklet with 18 stamps. This lovely example of a usable modern classic has an MoT test certificate and has been fully valeted to looks it absolute best and perfect for summer motoring.Guide Price £10,000 - £15,000

Lot 148

The W140 was a flagship vehicle premiered at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1991 with the first examples rolling off the production line in August 1991. The SE/SEL/SEC cars were renamed the S-Class, with alphanumerical designations inverted. The W140 was the first of the next generation of Mercedes-Benz models to feature the company's new design theme and development began in 1981. The W140 introduced innovations such as double-pane window glazing, power-assisted closing for doors and boot lid, electric windows which lowered back down upon encountering an obstruction and a heating system which, if desired, continued to emit warm air after the engine was turned off. For details like this, the W140 is often known as the last Mercedes-Benz to be over-engineered. The W140 used a hydropneumatic rear suspension, first introduced on the W126 range. In 1993, the 408hp, V12 engine was slightly detuned to 389hp to comply with more stringent emission control regulations. This S500L presents in very good order; its metallic blue paintwork and grey leather trim have aged well. The specification of the S500 Mercedes-Benz is excellent with, electric seats, air conditioning, anti-lock brakes and cruise control all standard fitment. This example is a long wheelbase Limo version offering even more refinement for passengers. Effortless driving is probably the best way to describe this example, which has been well maintained. Supplied with a V5 registration document and a valid MoT test certificate together with a comprehensive history folder, this Mercedes-Benz S500 is offered without reserve.

Lot 149

Introduced in 1971, this impressive two-seater sports car replaced the 280 SL. The body and chassis of the third generation SL were considerably heavier and longer than its predecessor, but still showed a slight resemblance to them. The result was a luxurious 3.5 litre, V8 convertible. The engine underwent slight modifications to those being used on other models and the gear shift lever was placed on the floor in the centre of the car. The standard transmission provided a top speed of 130mph and a very respectable 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds. As with the previous generation SL's, the vehicle came as an open roadster with removable hardtop roof. The R107 body shape went on to become one of the longest running styles from Mercedes-Benz, remaining in production until 1989 with some 13 variants during that period. This superb 380 SL was originally delivered on 30th December 1980. In very good order throughout, the car has been treated to much restoration work in the past three years. The body was repaired where necessary and the paintwork stripped and refinished to a very high standard. All new chromework was fitted as well as a new soft top, carpets, fuel lines, fuel pump and four new tyres. The coachwork, interior and chromework all present very well as does the hardtop. This Mercedes has also benefitted from a comprehensive engine health check and benefits from a new fuel system and warm up valve. More recently this 380 SL has been the subject of various works undertaken by the SL Shop and total over £12,000, as such it is ready to be enjoyed immediately. Offered with a sizeable history file including many sundry invoices, bills from the SL Shop, the UK registration document (the tax class showing as historic), and old MoT test certificates. R107 model SL's are becoming increasingly desirable and this example is one of the best we have seen.

Lot 168

The Mercedes-Benz 124 series is a range of mid-size cars made from 1984 to 1997. The range included numerous body configurations, and although collectively referred to as the W-124, official internal chassis designations varied by body style; saloon (W 124). From 1993, the 124 series was officially marketed as the E-Class. This automatic example of the W124 300 TE is presented in Silver with rare and striking Brazil Brown trim. It features the two fold-away seats in the boot making this a practical, occasional seven seater and boasts a comprehensive service history and the optional sunroof. In the last 18 months there were 36 maintenance items completed on the car listed in the history as in somewhat of an overhaul after its 30 years of service. The vendor informs us that all electrical functions work as they should and that the car drives beautifully. The car benefits from an MoT test certificate valid until December 2022 and two keys. Selling due to loss of parking, our vendor needs a new keeper for this lovely example of the fantastically reliable W124 which is equally capable now as it was in 1992.

Lot 17

At the start of the 1990s, after the introduction of their two-seat, grand-tourer R129 SL and the Mazda MX-5, Mercedes-Benz set out to create a new compact roadster, slotted below the SL. By late 1991, under Bruno Sacco, the first design sketches were drawn, with scale models being built in the first half of 1992. Massively successful in its first year, worldwide sales hit 55,000, over double the entire nine-year production of 190 SLs and between 1996 and 2004, over 311,000 SLKs were sold. The roof design consists of a folding steel hardtop with both halves linked by a mechanism which is locked securely when the roof is closed. At the touch of a button on the centre console, a hydraulic system controls the fully automatic folding process in which the boot lid is also integrated.Originally registered on 6th November 1997, this Mercedes-Benz is finished in silver with a contrasting two-tone interior. The condition of this handsome German beauty is a testament to its previous owner. The options specified on the original invoice include leather trim and automatic transmission. The impressive power roof works faultlessly, and she is fitted with a Panasonic CD player. This car was registered as a Category C insurance loss in January 2001. With an engine that starts on the button, this Mercedes-Benz is described as driving with no known faults. Supplied with a V5C registration document this striking SLK 230 is offered for sale without reserve.

S-Class safety features included innovations in active safety (accident avoidance) including ABS braking in 1978, traction control and Electronic Stability Program (ESP). Passive safety features included crumple zones in 1957, three-point seatbelts in 1965, collapsible steering column and strengthened occupant cell, resulting in better protection during heavy impacts.Presented in Piano Black with full grey leather this remarkably low mileage S320 showing just 45,889 miles has had just three owners from new and in that time been serviced by Mercedes-Benz main dealers only, the last in March 2021 at 42,142 miles. Unfortunately, the bodywork needs a little TLC but upon inspection at the time of consignment all electrics functioned as they should on the car including the air suspension and the interior was as expected in very good condition. A vehicle that when first registered with options such as parktronic, memory pack and xenon lights cost £50,221 and is now offered without reserve having been treated to new spark plugs and a new battery and boasting two sets of keys and the full book pack. Guide Price £3,000 - £5,000

Therefore, the SL featured many new and innovative ideas, such as controlled electronic damping, automatically expanding roll-over bar and a more modern multi-link rear axle. In addition to this was a fully operating electric roof, windows, door mirrors and seats, which made this model easy and comfortable to operate. The new SL also boasted a more powerful engine and the stopping power was aided by anti-lock braking for added reassurance.First registered on the 27th February 1996 this Imperial Red example of the rarer 280 SL R129 was specified with optional five-speed automatic gearbox, front heated leather seats and headlight washers resulting in a total cost when new of £57,566. The car today is very smart sitting on later six spoke Mercedes alloy wheels and having had a full valet. Accompanying the car is a full book pack including comprehensively stamped service booklet with 14 stamps the most recent in December 2021 at 82,000 miles and an MoT test certificate until December 2022. A fast appreciating marque which we are sure will give boundless top down motoring enjoyment.Guide Price £10,000 - £15,000

They were sold under the SL and SLC model names as the 280SL, 280SLC, 300SL, etc. up to the 560SL. The R107 roadster has been described as one of the best looking Mercedes-Benz cars produced to date. The car featured a two-door monocoque bodyshell with independent suspension all round, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the front, semi-trailing arms, coil springs and anti-roll bar at the rear. The power assisted steering was Daimler-Benz's own re-circulating ball system. All R129s came standard with an aluminium detachable hard top that was fitted by folding the canvas roof down and manually attaching the hard top. Designed in 1984, the R129 was based on the shortened floor pan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 and featured many innovative details for the time, for instance electronically controlled damping (Adaptive Damping System ADS, optional) and a hidden, automatically extending roll-over bar. The number of standard features was high, with electric action for the windows, mirrors, seats and hydraulic convertible top. This lovely, three owners from new example is presented in two-tone metallic blue with its bespoke Black Nappa  leather interior. As with each new S-Class, the W220 brought in new innovations such as Airmatic air suspension and Active Ventilated Seats. The very pretty and highly desirable Mercedes-Benz 250 SL was the successor to the popular 230 SL and was first introduced to the public at the 1967 Geneva Motor Show. The brief production run ended a year later in January 1968 and as a result of this short run, the 250 SL is the rarest of the W 113 (Pagoda) series cars. These lovely German stalwarts were offered with a four-speed automatic, a four-speed manual box or the ZF five-speed. Also, for the first time an optional limited slip differential was also available. This fabulous fully restored, including engine rebuild, Pagoda Mercedes is presented in red with black leather interior and is left hand drive. The Mercedes-Benz 124 series is a range of mid-size cars made from 1984 to 1997. The range included numerous body configurations, and although collectively referred to as the W-124, official internal chassis designations varied by body style; saloon (W 124). From 1993, the 124 series was officially marketed as the E-Class.This automatic example of the W124 220 TE is presented in Almandine with grey trim and has covered a mere 74,000 miles from new.  It features the two fold-away seats in the boot making this a practical, occasional seven seater. Purchased by our vendor from an elderly lady who in turn purchased the car in 1996 as only the second owner and had kept and used the car for 25 years. During her tenure the car had been garaged when not driven and very well maintained as demonstrated by a comprehensive service history from Mercedes-Benz main dealers and since our owner has taken ownership he has similarly kept the car garaged. The car also benefits from an MoT test certificate valid until February 2023 with no advisories. Selling due to loss of parking, our vendor needs a new keeper for this lovely example of the fantastically reliable W124 which is equally capable now as it was in 1993.  An almost-unique opportunity to own an extremely low mileage W124 with impeccable service history, very well presented inside and out. Guide Price £7,000 - £11,000 https://youtu.be/cw39x3KGhbE

Lot 94

Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 1963, the 230 SL was a very different car to its predecessors. Intended as the replacement for the 190 SL, the 230 SL abandoned the four-cylinder engine in favour of a 2.3 litre fuel-injected, six-cylinder engine, producing 150bhp. The new engine was derived from that of the great 220 SE. The Paul Bracq penned body was an all-new, stylish design which became an instant classic. Beneath the skin, the running gear was conventional Mercedes-Benz, featuring independent suspension, disc brakes on the front and rear drums. Top speed was in excess of 120mph. Soon after the 230 SL was announced, Eugen Bohringer drove one to victory in the Spa-Sofia-Liège Rally. This impressive 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Roadster has benefitted from some noticeable tlc. The recently refreshed paintwork is in good order and presents well in white with a hardtop contrasting in black. The trim is impressive, and the car fired up on request. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document and a file containing various bills and receipts, this Pagoda Mercedes is keenly priced. These SL models were amongst the most-loved sports-tourers of their day and continue to be highly sought after by collectors and have recently seen a marked increase in values.
