EXCELLENT EXAMPLE OF A GM DESIGN LEGEND

Initially conceived as the "La Salle II," the Riviera was Buick's image and engineering leader from 1963 through 1993 and again from 1995 to 1999. Competing directly with Ford's Thunderbird in the personal luxury market, the GS-themed Riviera was a true "gentleman's muscle car," exemplified by the sleekly restyled 1966-67 models. Somewhat larger with a new 119-inch wheelbase chassis, the updated Riviera featured a lower, longer, wider presence with a new fastback roofline and cleaner profile with vent widows replaced by new flow-through ventilation. Standard Riviera features included power brakes and steering, an automatic transmission, tilt steering, and dual exhaust. Richly appointed, fully carpeted interiors included top-quality upholstery in a wide array of color combinations. A wide array of standard features came with every Riviera, befitting Buick's flagship model of the 1960s.

Buick's famed 425 cubic-inch "Nailhead" V-8 engine was replaced by an all-new and improved 430-cube V-8 for 1967, delivering 360 factory-rated horsepower with a standard Rochester Quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor residing underneath a distinctive twin-inlet air cleaner housing. Known to enthusiasts today as the "Star Wars" unit for its similarity to the movie spacecraft of the latter 1970s, the Riviera's air cleaner remains popular with hot rodders and muscle car enthusiasts today. The Gran Sport (GS) option added heavy-duty suspension, a performance axle with positive traction differential, wide oval white wall tires, and specific 'GS' ornamentation.

Finished in a Body Tag-correct color combination of Arctic White paint over Black upholstery, this Flint, Michigan-built 1967 Riviera GS is accompanied by the original window sticker/MSRP confirming it was delivered new to Griffith Motors, Inc. in Johnson City, Tennessee. Carrying a basic MSRP of $4,469, this Riviera GS left the factory with such standard features as tilt steering wheel, a unique barrel-style speedometer, an electric clock, trunk light, dual exhaust, and Custom seat belts.

Factory options are many, adding nearly $1,500 to the purchase price, all itemized on the accompanying window sticker. Among them were a D55 Console, U69 AM-FM radio with electric antenna and U-80 rear-seat speaker, C60 air conditioning, A31 power windows, U15 Speed Alert, A01 Soft-Ray tinted glass, U05 four note horn, B93 door guards, D33 remote control outside rear view mirror, and a set of 4 Code T54 floor mats. Seats are Code A51 custom Trim Strato Bucket seats in vinyl, with A41 4-way tilt adjustment to the driver's seat and A81 headrests for both front occupants. Gleaming chrome and bumpers plus handsome Buick road wheels finish this handsome performer off nicely.
