Registry: 1971 Triumph Stag

My car was originally supplied to Oceanside CA, registration No. 251 JQH, it still has an Oceanside High School parking pass in the windscreeen.
I assume the car remained here for some time and appears to have been taken off the road in Sep 1980, for some reason.
It would appear that the vehicle was stored well until it was purchased by a UK company called California Connections and brought back to the UK in 2000.
Sometime during the next 3 years it was converted to RHD and from auto to manual transmission. The original Triumph V8 engine was rebuilt during this period also.
The car was first registered here, in Newcastle in 2003, as DVK 119 J, but remained unused due to poor health of the owner, who kept the car in an air-conditioned garage. The only thing of note that occurred during this time was a relatively poor quality respray.
The car was then purchased by Warren at TriumphStagShop, based near to Birmingham, who undertook recommissioning of the engine and brakes to obtain UK MOT certificate. He offered the car for sale to be resprayed to a high standard to remedy the earlier work and fitted a new convertible hood. This work has recently been undertaken.
I re-veneered the dashboard in the original American straight grain walnut finish over the winter. I also refurbished the airbox to original colour.
The Stag remains, however, largely un-restored, with all body panels being original. Somewhere along the line it's factory fit air-con was removed, something I wish to re-instate sometime, when funds allow.
I plan to use the car to tour France later in the summer (2017), 2500 miles in a 46 year old car........
