“Ole Yeller”
I bought this car back in the spring of 2008. I was looking for a car for my oldest daughter, who wanted a "sporty car with a manual transmission", was what she told me. After seeing this yellow Nissan, I fell in love with it. I got it for a good price as it would not show signs of burning oil unless you took it above 4000 rpms and it had ECM issues; It would continue to rev from 750 rpm up to 2500 rpm and continue to oscillate up and down. The first owner was a young man who ran it hard. The QR25DE, 2.5 L engine in this car was found to have engine problems. The SER SPEC V was the top of the line Sentra. It was made for fast shifts and high revs. It had a secondary intake system controlled by a solenoid valve, such that when you reached somewhere between 3500-4000rpm, it would activate the solenoid valve which opened another set of air intake butterfly valves to draw in more air at the top end. It worked well except that the back pressure from the exhaust, coming down quickly from the high rpms, and the vacuum created in the engine cylinders would pull catalytic dust from the catalytic converter back into the cylinders and damage the rings and then burn oil. After doing research on this and finding this out, I gave my 2006 Honda Civic to her to use until I sorted out the issues with this car. At 84,700 miles, I had the engine rebuilt and finding that the ECM needed to have the IDLE RE-LEARN reset within its programming, the car has been a dream to drive and own. My daughter was now happy with the Honda and I loved this car, so I just told her to keep the Civic. The body and the interior on the Sentra, were like new and I have kept it that way. I have decided to keep the rpms down under 4000 rpms and have not had any problems with catalytic dust issue,s due to exhaust back pressure. I get lots of compliments on it, especially when they see me and the age of the man who is driving it. :>) What is really interesting, is that I have been pulled over 3 times by the police, for no reason, that I was aware of. After seeing this "older gentleman" driving it and asking; "Is this your car", and me answering yes, they look at me and then they would said; "Oh, we thought this was your son's car" or " We thought you were someone else". Then they let me go on my merry way. I am very careful when I drive it as it is a "Magnet" for the police that are watching. So what does that tell you?!!!!!!!

My younger sister had problems with her 2000 Sonata, Which I gave her back in 2010. It finally had the engine die on her and was too costly to fix, so I sold my Nissan SER SpecV for a minimal cost. After all the repairs (rebuilt engine, new shocks, brake rotors and pads, fron and back, new rack and pinion ect, the value of the car was much more than what I sold it to her. Family is important She and my brother in law flew out here to AZ ahd we had a great visit and they drove it home. I really miss that car!!!
