A CLASSIC JAGUAR IN THE COOLEST OF COLORS

Debuting in 1962, the Jaguar was another one of Leo Fender's greatest contributions to the world of guitars.  A short-scale (24”) instrument, blinged out with chrome appointments galore, unique switching capabilities, and an unmistakable tone, the Jaguar turned heads upon its release. This Fender Custom Shop version, the 1964 Jaguar Deluxe Closet Classic, brings the original into the modern era with a more player-friendly feel, in a custom color rarely seen - Sherwood Green Metallic.

The offset, two-piece select alder body (sort for lightweight) wears a Thin Skin Lacquer finish that’s been aged like a fine wine, giving it the look and feel of a well-cared-for authentic original.  We opted for the Deluxe Closet Classic package for this Jaguar.  The idea is that it's a guitar that was built in 1964, then well taken care of and religiously polished for years, with an owner that took pride in keeping it in great shape.  Over time, that finish would start aging, with moderate finish checking, fading and slight oxidation of the hardware and mild discoloration of the parts.  The end result is a distinct look & feel.  We chose this Sherwood Green Metallic as the color partly because it's not seen very often, and because it's one of our favorites!  As an added bonus, we went for a matching headstock.

The tinted, rift sawn maple neck sports a “ ’62 Jaguar” profile, along with a 9.5”-radius fingerboard with 22 6105 frets. This gives it a more modern feel, for easy bending and playing in the higher registed.  Packed with authentic Fender tone—articulate and crisp— the ’62 Jaguar single-coil pickups incorporate the traditional Jaguar wiring that gives it a distinct voice.  As an added touch, we opted for parchment binding on the neck, another favorite of Jaguar players.

Other features include 3-ply Parchment pickguard, floating vibrato, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut and wing string tree. Includes a period correct brown hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.
