Vintage Chrysler Pickups
The 1951 Dodge Fargo B-1, part of the B Series that replaced prewar Dodge designs, were sold between 1948 to 1953. The B Series featured a high-visibility 'Pilot-House' cab and had new 'Air-O-Ride' seats. A 1/2-ton truck, it came with an 218ci inline 6 cylinder. The Sweptside Series was Dodge's answer to 'jet-age' styling, running from 1957 to 1959, dubbed by Dodge as the 'Handsomest Truck on the Road'. The 1958 model added 'Quad' headlights and a new grille and was built by the Special Equipment Group of Dodge. It came with many amenities not usually provided in a truck and was powered by either a 230ci inline flathead 6 cylinder or 315 ci V8 cylinder.

The American ‘Love Affair’ with cars.
The phrase was coined in a 1961 episode of the DuPont Show of the Week (DuPont then owned 23% of GM). In that program, Merrily We Roll Along, Groucho Marx recounted the Love Affair’s history.
In the postwar boom of the 1950’s, America went car crazy, with the US owning three-fourths of the world’s cars. There was an outburst of car design inspired by the ‘jet-age’ and the coming ‘space age’! Each new model with even more chrome, larger fins, a bigger engine and more gadgets, air conditioning, automatic transmissions, power steering, power brakes and the overhead-valve V-8 to name a few. After the depredations of the Great Depression followed by the war years, we thought it was time to let loose a bit! There were also all of those factories that were suddenly NOT making war material.
