Chassis:
Commissioned by the very wealthy Lord James Edward Hanson, this 500 Superfast was finished in Verde Scuro or dark green with a black leather interior. Between 1965 and 1972, Lord Hanson kept the Ferrari at Pininfarina for him to use while he would be on the continent. While he did drive the car, it had only accrued 10,000 miles when it finally left his ownership in 2000. The next custodian was Dutch collector Edgar Schermerhorn, who extensively showed the highly original 500 Superfast before selling it on to fellow Ferrari collector Martin Gruss in 2009. During his tenure with the car, it was meticulously maintained by Paul Russell & Co. and again shown at a variety of events. It changes hands twice more and was then consigned to the 2023 Gooding Amelia Island Auctions. With the odometer now reading 20,065, it was accompanied by an extensive selection of original spares and detailed documentation.
