Torrents are a means of getting the files you want from the Internet. For example, if you load a movie torrent in a free program that can use it, such as uTorrent, it will download the movie onto your computer. You can then use free conversion software to change the movie into any format you may want, such as DivX.
Step 1
Download and install a program for opening torrents, such as uTorrent or BitTorrent.
Step 2
Double-click on your torrent and your BitTorrent program should automatically start it and begin downloading your video file.
Step 3
Download and install a conversion program such as Xilisoft.
Step 4
Wait for your torrent to finish. When it does, click on the plus button in the main conversion program screen to cause a browser window to appear. Double-click on the video file inside the torrent you just downloaded.
Step 5
Click on "Profile." Click on the "General Video" heading in the new menu that appears. Click on "DivX Video" in the list of options on the right. Click "Convert" to begin conversion.
