Anyone with a titanium silver on 107 ellipsoids?
Just curious how the combination will look, I've had a quick search around the galleries and google images but can't find any so far.
Tempted to move to them if they look good. I always preferred the ellipsoids generally "The Z4 wheel" , but fear they may look naff on Titanium Silver.
Thanks
Dave

Oooo, loving the look of that.un1eash wrote:This is a good one....
Just my 108's need a refurb, are a liability for going corroded again, I like the Ellipsoid style (fits with the Z4 overall design ethos more in my mind, flamey), and also being once piece and cheaper/more abundant, are less of a liability if I do damage to one
Can get new wheels/tyres, then remove my 108's and recon them and sell them on!

Not sure really, I've seen prices of £350-£400 quoted, which is properly diamond cut edges and the centres painted.
I may well be tempted to just see what the consensus is... if people were happy to just buy reconditioned ones with the rim edge painted normally for a bit less, then I think I could probably get them done a fair bit cheaper and would mean some nice re-conned 108's for less money!
Will have to find some 107's first though... I think they look as nice as the 108's on silver so don't mind doing what I'm planning...

Feel free to copy me...a11y wrote:Damn you! I've been thinking about the same idea but wouldn't want to copy you
Just been washing my car and the 108's make 'inner rim' cleaning easy, but the recondition job the dealer (non bmw btw) did on them really doesn't do the car justice...
OK, from two metres away they look 'normal', three metres and you wouldn't know they were not diamond cut (ish), but up close when cleaning it's like humbrol paint and brush in areas, and it's basically been masked up, cleaned back (laquer was bad), and painted up with a one coat glossy ish metallic (so no sharp clear coat on top)
Just before I go buy new tyres if I can get some 107's then that would be ace. Going to try http://www.mstyle-online.co.uk/Z4-Alloys.htm for some of their Ellipsoids on Monday, and see what tyres they offer too (not sure if they are NEW alloys, or just NEW valves/tyres, and good 2nd hand wheels)
Just don't want to buy 107's that need work too, though they look tons easier to respray/recondition!

Re: Anyone with a titanium silver on 107 ellipsoids?
Couldn't agree more. The ellipsoids are simply the best looking stock wheels for the Z4. They complement the Z4's flame surfacing perfectly (unlike any of the stock wheel for the E89).I always preferred the ellipsoids generally "The Z4 wheel"
However, I say get the style 202 ellipsoids which came out in 2006 and replaced the style 107 ellipsoids. The ellipsoids in the 2nd picture that un1eash posted above are the style 202's.
